Dryden Gleason

OBERLIN, Kansas -- Dryden Gleason, 87, died Thursday (July 17, 2013), at Decatur Health Systems in Oberlin.

He was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Miami County, Kansas, to Ewing and Aino (Henrickson) Dryden. He was raised in Wellsville, Kansas. He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army.

He married June Timm and after her death, to Kelva Swindler in 2005.

He was an electrician with Amoco Pipeline Co., and farmer and rancher in Wray, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aino and Ewing Dryden; first wife, June (Timm) Dryden, and sister, Ruth.

Survivors include his wife, Kelva Dryden of Oberlin; children, Eldon (Susan) Dryden of Wray and Joyce Dryden of Cordova, Tennessee; stepchildren, Randa (Steven) Vollertsen, Crista (Stephen) Lane, Pamela (Robert) Topping, Diana (Terry) Rippe, and Jonna (Patrick) Inman; sisters, Shirley Swihart of Novato, California and Irene Albright of Winchester, Tennessee; four grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 21 step-great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Gene Gee officiating. Interment is at the Grandview Cemetery in Wray.

Visitation is Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday until service time.

Memorials may be given to Golden Age Center in Oberlin.
