McCOOK, Nebraska -- Kavin Lyle Latimer, age 59, of McCook passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Kavin was born on Dec. 14, 1953, in Maywood, Nebraska. At the age of three days, he became the beloved son of Floyd "Stub" and Pauline (Soules) Latimer. He graduated from Maywood High School in 1971 and continued his education at McCook Community College.
He married Debra M. Nesvan on Aug. 12, 1995, at Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Omaha for awhile before moving to McCook. Kavin was employed as an operator in the oil fields until his health prevented him from working.
Kavin was a member of the Wellfleet, Omaha and McCook Methodist Church where he often sang in the choir. He was also a member of barbershop and participated in the community plays. His other interests included fishing, camping, gardening, and cooking. He was an avid Nebraska Husker and Denver Bronco fan. Kavin's most precious moments where times spent with his family and canine pets, Peanuts, Lola and Chubs.
Survivors include his wife, Debi Latimer of McCook; son, Jeremy Latimer and wife, Kristy, of McCook; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Jon Tryon, of Indianola; nine grandchildren, Zachary, Garrett, Ashlynn and Brooklynn Latimer, Miles, Cameron and Alexander Dack, and Brett and Madelyn Tryon; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Pauline Latimer.
Visitation will be Friday, July 19, 2013 from 1-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. Cremation will take place after the service and a private family inurnment will be held later at the Wellfleet Cemetery.
