LEXINGTON, Nebraska -- Lolita M. Biehl, 86, of rural Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday (July 11, 2013), at the Golden Living Center in Cozad.
She was born March 26, 1927, to W.E. "Edd" Riley and Grace Harriett Davis at Trenton, Nebraska. She attended Trenton Public Schools all 13 years, and graduated in 1944. She took the Normal training courses in high school and following graduation, she taught in a rural school in Hitchcock County. Before World War II, she was trained on the teletype and was sent to Dayton, Ohio and worked at Wright-Patterson Airbase. In 1949, she accepted a teaching position at Dawson County District North 17, where she taught all eight grades.
She married Jerold "Jerry" Biehl on Aug.20, 1950, in the Trenton Congregational Church. In 1952, they returned to Lexington to farm with Jerry's parents.
After the death of her husband in 2007, she continued to live on the farm until 2009, when she moved to the Golden Living Center in Cozad.
She was a member of Farm & Fireside Extension Club, serving in all the offices; served on the Dawson County Extension Club Council and Extension Board; as 4-H leader for many years; and a mentor for the HOSTS program in the Lexington Schools. She was a member of the Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; her parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna Fick, Bill and Rose Biehl; brother, Paul D. Riley; sisters, Edna and Floyd Fricke, and Nedine and Bill Skinner; brother-in-law, Hugh Amann; unborn infant children, and grandson, Timothy Hanson.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands: Cathy and John Hanson of Lexington, the Revs. Nancy and Lance Isaacson of Jackson, Minnesota, and Cheryl and Steve Roberts of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, LaVerna Amann of Atwood, Kansas, Linda and Gary Wooters of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and a brother-in-law, Lynn and Sharon Riley. seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Memorial service is Monday, July 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Buffalo Grove Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Lance Isaacson officiating.
Visitation is Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Private Burial will be prior to memorial service at Buffalo Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Lexington Community Foundation.
