CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Edith E. Rikli, age 92, died peacefully at her home in Cambridge, Nebraska, on June 28, 2013.
She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on July 20, 1920, to Walter and Elda (Frohardt) Lee. She was united in marriage to Alfred G. Rikli on Oct. 26, 1941, and enjoyed 64 years of marriage living in Murdock, Nebraska, Drummond, Oklahoma, and more recently, in Wilsonville and Cambridge.
Edith was a long term member of the United Methodist Church, was active in the UMW and in Wilsonville's Double 8 club. She also had many hobbies and interests including cooking, sewing, gardening, bowling, golf and traveling. But most of all, she was a wonderful mother and homemaker who was loved and adored by her family and by all who knew her.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; sisters, Viola Grote and Kathryn Benson and by brothers, Ervin Lee and Lester Lee.
She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Rikli of Fullerton, California and Deb Rikli of Placentia, California; by her sons, Roger and wife, Wanda of Lincoln, Nebraska, Ed and Jennifer of Lexington, Nebraska and Stan of Vallejo, California; by four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Marian Case of Naples, Florida.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge, with Pastor Jeff Wulf officiating. Interment will be in the Wilsonville Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday, July 1, 2013, from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Rikli family extends sincere appreciation to Linda Plourd for her devotion, friendship and loving care for Edith for the past five years.
