Robert 'Bob' Leslie Troudt

WAUNETA, Nebraska -- Robert "Bob" Leslie Troudt, the middle of three sons, was born in Nelson, Nebraska, on May 12, 1942, to Leslie G. Troudt and D. Leone (Adamson) Troudt. The family lived on a farm southwest of Nelson, Nebraska, until 1955, when they moved to Davenport, Nebraska, for a short time before returning to the Nelson area in 1958.

He graduated from Nelson Public High School in 1960. Bob attended Fairbury Junior College, then enlisted and served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970. Following his service in the National Guard, he worked for Bargen Implement in Nelson. Bob then attended and graduated from Kearney State College with a teaching degree. From 1970 to 1977 he taught in Wauneta, Nebraska, as well as coached many different sports. He was partial to basketball and track.

On Aug. 2, 1975, Bob married Beverly (Brogan) O'Neil at Mount Zion Methodist Church, south of Wauneta. The couple made their home on a farmstead north of Wauneta.

After his marriage to Bev, Bob left teaching and began farming. He worked many different jobs in his lifetime including custom harvesting, cattle raising, hail insurance adjusting, and owning a golf club repair shop.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was known for his unique sense of humor. Bob had many hobbies including: fishing, golfing, camping, playing cards, gardening, taking cruises, boating, practical jokes, and pranks. In recent years, Bob enjoyed attending grandchildren's activities and living close to family in eastern Nebraska.

Bob passed away Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2013, at the Gretna Community Living Center in Gretna, Nebraska. He was 71 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Leone; wife, Bev; sons, Nicholas Troudt and Bill O'Neil; brother, John Troudt.

Survivors include daughter, Kris Nickelson and her husband Dave, granddaughters, Lesley and Ashley; son, Eric Troudt and wife, Renea, granddaughters, Kelsie, Bailey, and Sydney; step-daughter, Cindy Richardson, grandchildren, Sam and Amanda; step-daughter, Shelly Clem and husband, Dan; step-son, Brian O'Neil and wife, Rhona, grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon; step-daughter-in-law, Jennifer, grandchildren, Patrick and Sarah; brother, Carroll (Coke) and wife, Cindy Troudt and children; and sister-in-law, Patsy Troudt and children.

Visitation is Tuesday, 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Funeral service is Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gretna, 11204 S. 204th St. Graveside service is Friday, June 21, 2013, 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, in Wauneta, Nebraska.
