EAGLE, Nebraska -- Douglas E. Schrader, 63, of Eagle, went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday (May 28, 2013). Born (April 11, 1950) in Benkelman, Nebraska, to Alvin and Betty (Hardwick) Schrader. Ag Technologist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Farmed with his father until Alvin's death in 1981, returned to work at his alma mater at UNL. Current member of Capitol City Christian Church where he loved to worship the Lord; former Benkelman 4-H Leader and Lion's Club member. Doug was an avid Husker fan. He also loved to travel with Joy around the world, golf, hunt, fish and was an avid reader.

Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Friday at Roper and Sons, 4300 'O' Street, Lincoln, Nebraska

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday (June 1, 2013), Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege St., Lincoln, Nebraska

Family gathering: Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday

Cemetery: Additional visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. MST Monday June 3, 2013, at Benkelman Funeral Home, followed by the Committal Service in the Benkelman Cemetery, Benkelman, Nebraska, with the Rev. George Matthews officiating.

Memorials: Capitol City Christian Church or The Cat House

Family members include his wife, Joy; sister, Julie (Steve) Stroup; uncle, Bill Hardwick; aunt, Eleanor Hardwick; many nieces, nephews and cousins. 



Preceded in death by parents and infant son, Andrew Douglas.
