Lillian Marie (Vap) Green

ATWOOD, Kansas -- Lillian Marie Vap Green died May 23, 2013, at Rawlins County Hospital.

She was born Dec. 10, 1926, to Joe and Bessie Spirk Vap on their farm north of Atwood, Kansas.

She attended Bower Country School, Atwood High School, and Notre Dame Academy in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1944. She taught two years in Rawlins County country schools,

She married Delmar Green Aug. 26, 1946, in Denver, Colorado. Together they attended the University of Kansas. They made their home on the Green family farm southeast of Atwood, where they raised their eight children. On July 4, 1982, they moved into their home in Atwood, which they designed and built,

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Christian Mothers Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Town and Country Guild, Union Club, Merry 12 Club, Music Club, and Red Hat Chicks. She taught CCD, served as Lector and Extraordinary Minister of Communion and as a 4-H leader. She was chairwoman for the Sacred Heart Church 100 Anniversary celebration.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Bessie and Joe Vap; brothers, Alfred and Daniel; husband, Delmar; daughter, Rhonda, and grandson, Joe Bothwell.

Survivors include Charlotte Green and Beverly Green, Colorado; Robert and Ruth Green, Illinois, Natalie and Tom Bothwell, Minnesota; Marvin and Kathy Green, Kansas; Laurie and Gary Adelhardt, Maryland, Jolene and Chris Moulder, Wyoming, numerous relatives and friends.

Funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, with the Rev. Nick Parker officiating. Interment was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.

Memorials have been established in her name to the Rawlins County Health Center, Atwood Second Century Fund and the Mount Calvary Cemetery Fund.

Williams Funeral Home of Atwood was in charge of the arrangements.
