McCOOK, Nebraska -- Larry M. Surmin, age 67, of McCook, died on May 7, 2013.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Jan. 24, 1946, to Eugene E. and Gloria (Lepcin) Surmin. He attended and graduated from Lutheran North High School in 1963. He attended college for two years.

On Jan. 14, 1966, he entered the U.S. Army serving in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in October of 1967.

Larry worked as a technician for Burns Lab in McCook.

Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Bloom DeDecker on June 10, 1981. Larry belonged to the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara of McCook; two step-daughters, Roberta and husband, Donald Smith of Waukegan, Illinois and Lee Uerling of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Ronald Surmin of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Scott and wife, Debra Surmin of Des Plaines, Illinois and a special helper and friend, Justin Miller of Benkelman, Nebraska.

Inurnment will be on Friday, May 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
