SYRACUSE, Kansas -- Darold "Hawk" DeMoss, 66, of Syracuse, Kansas died Thursday (April 25, 2013) at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born Jan. 18, 1947, in Denver, Colorado, to Donald and Marjorie Elaine (Sonday) DeMoss.
He moved with his family to Nebraska when he was a child. He attended high school in Lebanon, Nebraska and later moved to Danbury, Nebraska. He moved to Syracuse, Kansas in 1985 and has lived in Syracuse since. He worked all of his life in the oil fields with American Exploration.
On Nov. 21, 1999, he married Janice Douglass in Syracuse.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald DeMoss, his step-father, Leo Hartman, and a son, Donald DeMoss.
Suvivors include his wife, Janice Douglass of Syracuse ; son, Brad DeMoss of Kearney, Nebraska.; two step-sons, Corey Tracy of Parker, Colorado and Bryon Tracy of Highlands Ranch, Colorado.; step-daughter, Megan Tracy of Syracuse; mother, Marjorie Hartman of McCook, Nebraska.; sisters, Deanna DeMoss of Arvada, Colorado, Joanna Herronma of Hays, Kansas., Debbie Daly of Lincoln, Nebraska and Brenda Kincaid of McCook; and five grandchildren.
Funeral service are Tuesday, April 30, 11 a.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
Visitation is Sunday, noon to 8 p.m. and Monday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.
