OBERLIN, Kansas -- Earl L. Winder, 84, died Tuesday (April 23, 2013), at Oberlin.

He was born Feb. 14, 1929, to G. Melvin and Mary E. (Corwin) Winder in Waldo, Kansas. He was raised in Osborne, Kansas and Idaho Springs, Colorado. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1950 after returning from serving in the United States Marine Corp, Private First Class, in World War II.

He married Elsie A. Craig on May 20, 1950, in McCook, Nebraska. He was a mail carrier in Oberlin and later worked at Winder Tree Service.

He was a member of United Church of Oberlin and I.O.O.F. and Rebekah Lodges.

He was preceded in death by parents; son, Evan Winder and brother, Paul Winder.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie Winder of Kensington, Kansas; sons, Bruce Winder of Oberlin, Kent Winder of Joplin, Missouri; daughters, Jerri Lee (Bob) Fogg of Riverside, California; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,

Services are Monday, April 29, 11 a.m. at United Church of Oberlin with the Rev. Judi Stricker officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery with military rites from the Oberlin American Legion Post No. 70.

Visitation is Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday after 9 a.m. at the church.
