Harold Eugene Harsch

CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Harold Eugene Harsch passed away Thursday, April 19, 2013, at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge Nebraska.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1926, to Henry C. Harsch and Hilda (Brenning) Harsch of rural Bartley, Nebraska. He joined the United States Army in 1944 after graduating from McCook High School. While in the Army, he was a drill instructor and shared his Christian faith with many young men. He was stationed at Camp Hood, Texas, Camp Chaffee, Arkansas, Fort Meade, Maryland, and at the headquarters of the Second Army, Memphis, Tennessee. He was listed as a technical sergeant when discharged in 1946. He married Virginia Sines on March 4, 1950.

Harold's faith in his Lord Jesus Christ was very important to him. He loved visiting with family, friends, and neighbors and was always ready to share a story of his past personal experiences. Harold was an avid reader with interests in many subjects, including Bible prophecy, geology and other fields of science, He enjoyed the outdoors and the changing seasons while living on his farm. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in McCook and a member of the American Legion Chapters in Lebanon and Bartley.

Survivors include a niece, Heidi (husband, Jon) Watson of Grand Island, sister-in- law, Carolyn (husband, Gary) Leitner and Leora Sines of McCook, cousins, Ed Spahn and Stan (wife, Shirley) Spahn, also of McCook, cousins Clara Heumphreas, Kenneth (wife, Sylvia) Harsch, Georgia (husband, Kenneth) Dutt, all of Cambridge and numerous nieces and nephews, He was preceded in death by his father, mother, wife (Virginia) in 2004, and sister (Shirley) in 2004.

A memorial services will be Friday, May 3, at 2 p.m. at Lockenour Mortuary in Cambridge with the Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at the Bartley Cemetery.
