ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Leona Evelyn Weverka, 84, died Monday (April 15, 2013), at Beaver City Manor, in Beaver City.
She was born on March, 5, 1929, to Felix and Caroline Fahnholz in rural Gosper County, Nebraska.
She attended Edison Public School at Edison, Nebraska until the eighth grade. On Oct. 11, 1947,, she married Joseph Weverka at in Arapahoe. They made their home in Arapahoe.
They were owners of the McCoy Motel and Weverka Sand and Gravel for several years. In 1985, she retired from the motel business and cared for her husband until his death in February 1998. She was a member of St. Germanus Catholic Church and Alter Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three sisters, JoAnn, Viola and Betty Lee; and brother, Donald.
She was survived by her daughter, Monica and husband, Bill Breinig of Maxwell, Nebraska; sons, Joseph and wife, Judy Weverka of Brentwood, Tennessee, and Todd and wife, Maryka Weverka of Arapahoe; brother, Robert Fahnholz of Neptune City, New Jersey; sister, Donna Mae Bonta of Wichita, Kansas, and five grandchildren.
Funeral mass will be Friday, April 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. Robert Barnhill, officiating. Burial will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe. Rosary will be Friday, April 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Germanus Catholic Church of Arapahoe.
