CULBERTSON, Nebraska -- Carmen Lea (Blankenship) Smith, 40, died April 7, 2013, at North Platte after a four-year battle with leukemia.

She was born Dec. 18, 1972, in Newton, Kansas, to Charles and Marie (Ramsey) Blankenship. She attended school in Burlington and graduated from Idalia in 1992.

She married Jason Smith on Sept. 5, 2000.

Preceding her in death was her father, Charles Blankenship.

Survivors include her mother, Marie Blankenship; husband, Jason Smith; sons, Zack Smith, Gavin Klie, and Jeffrey Smith; sister, Shiela, and many family members and friends.

A memorial service is Saturday, April 13, 2013, 11 a.m. at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray, Colorado, with the Rev. Harold Jackson officiating. A private family inurnment will be at the Kirk Cemetery in Kirk, Colorado.
