Georgie Jean Seybold

May 2, 1941 -- March 6, 2013

TRENTON, Nebraska -- Jean Blankenship Seybold, Trenton, Nebraska, passed away at El Dorado Nursing Manor after a long battle with cancer.

Georgie was born on May 2, 1941, in Cheyenne County, Kansas, to Walter Thomas Blankenship and Violet Stella "Dell" (Seitz) Blankenship. She graduated in 1959, with honors, from Benkelman High School. Georgie was senior prom queen and participated in many clubs and organizations, including being a class officer for many years. At the age of 62, she proudly received her certificate of graduation from McCook Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Accounting and Business Administration Emphases.

She was united in marriage to Nathan (Dick) Seybold, in 1960. To this union one son, David Lynn, was born. They later shared their home and lives with their nephew, Brian Blankenship. Georgie and Dick made their home in several places throughout Nebraska and Colorado before settling north of Trenton in 1993.

Her sense of civic and hometown pride always brought her to action. Love of community and volunteerism created bonds and precious friendships far-reaching. She worked as a volunteer tax preparer with the VITA program, camp host at the Massacre Canyon Visitor Center and the Trenton Library. She loved her country and was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, and was employed by the ASCS office in Trenton for several years. Georgie was a gifted china painter and has many, beautiful pieces of her handiwork displayed in their home. Christmas "Letter from the Missus," family reunions and keeping family connected are just a few drops in the ocean of reasons her family will miss her immensely.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Walter Blankenship and Dell (Blankenship) Ditton; step-father, Kelly Ditton; sisters: Ruby Terry and husband, Pete; Roberta Blankenship; and infant brother, Timothy.

Her survivors include her husband of 53 years, Nathan (Dick) Seybold of Trenton; son, David and wife, Becky; grandson, Charlie; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Angel, Savannah and Dallas of Trenton; LaNessa Wickizer, husband, Doug and their children, Austyn and Allen of Palisade; nephew, Brian Blankenship, and wife Connie and son Jared all of Kearney, Nebraska; brother, Thomas Blankenship, and wife Carrie, of Phoenix, Arizona; sisters, Judy Clark and Bob of Benkelman; June Nothaus and Mike of Palisade; and Evelyn Blankenship of Trenton. She has numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends who will always cherish her memories.

She was laid to rest at Trenton Cemetery on March 11, 2013.

The family of Georgie Seybold would like to extend their gratitude to all who offered their caring and support during her illness and passing. Special thanks to the staff at Community Hospital and Eldorado Manner for their expert care and compassion. Also, a very special thank you to the many family members and friends for their great out-pouring of love.
