SAN JOSE, California -- Sandra Sue Van Kirk of San Jose, California, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013, at her home in San Jose. She was 69 years of age.
Sue was born in Hastings, Nebraska, to Elton Howard and Jessie Roberta (Ball) Morgan on June 1, 1943. She attended McCook Public Schools and moved to California in 1963.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth McCoy, Jr., at Oberlin, Kansas. After moving to California in the 1960's she met and later married Charles Van Kirk.
Sue was a busy mother raising her son, Jay, and also worked as a bookkeeper for the family business. Sue was trained as a cosmetologist and a realtor, and later worked part-time as a clerk for Rite Aid. Sue loved to help people, and spent countless hours volunteering at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. She enjoyed snow and water skiing, gardening, golfing, painting, and travel. "Nana" Sue dearly loved her four granddaughters, and cherished the time spent with them. She also loved her dog, Freddie, who is now being pampered by her four granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Jessie Morgan; her two husbands, Kenneth McCoy, Jr., and Charles Van Kirk; a niece, Cindy Waddell; and two nephews, Owen Eugene King, Jr., and Jerry Alan Morgan.
Survivors include her son, Jay Van Kirk and wife, Christine, of Clive, Iowa; sisters, Sharon and husband, Owen King, and Diane and husband, Wayne Bryant, all of McCook; brother, Jerry Morgan and wife, Judy, of McCook; four granddaughters, Katie Lynn, Emily Sue, Laurie Beth, and Julie Ann Van Kirk, all of Clive; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

A graveside memorial inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska, in early spring. More information will be published as it becomes available.
