Chamber membership deadline approaching

McCOOK, Nebraska -- McCook area businesses are reminded that the deadline for renewing Chamber membership is March 31. According to Executive Director Tacie Fawver, there are many advantages to being a chamber member.

"When you become a chamber member, you are hiring the chamber staff to work for you," she told the Gazette. The chamber can assist businesses with promotions, networking opportunities, referrals, and partnerships with other chamber members that can be beneficial to the whole community.

Chamber membership, both business and individual, is currently at about 170. "We have strength in numbers," said Fawver. Major chamber events like Heritage Days, Crazy Days, the Home and Leisure Show, the Ag Appreciation Breakfast, and the Educator Welcome Brunch would not be possible without a large membership base to rally. A greater number of members provide more diversity, more collaboration, and a stronger chamber and community as a whole.

But Fawver has a caution for both existing and potential new members. "I like to compare Chamber membership to a gym membership," she said. "You will get out of it what you put back into it. If you join a gym but then never show up, you won't see any results and you won't feel like you're getting your money's worth from it. The same is true with the chamber. You need to be involved so your voice will be heard and you will get the benefits of networking opportunities with other businesses and community leaders."

A few of the upcoming chamber events include the Ag Appreciation Breakfast on Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the Red Willow County Community Building, the "Swing Into Spring" mixer at Heritage Hills Golf Course on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., a ribbon cutting at Full House on Friday at 10:00 a.m., and a ribbon cutting at LifeTeam on March 28 at 10:00 a.m.
