GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska -- Funeral services for Annita K. Frew will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church at Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dale Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Annita Kay Frew, 61 years of age, of Grand Island, Nebraska, (formerly of Loomis, Nebraska), passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Nebraska Medical Center -- Clarkson Tower in Omaha, Nebraska.

Annita was born May 12, 1951, at Lexington, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Densmore and Ruth (Paulsen) Nelson. She received her education from Loomis Public Schools, graduating from the Loomis High School with the class of 1970.

On Aug. 23, 1970, Annita was united in marriage to Richard Kent Frew at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege and to this union two daughters were born: Karri and Kimberly. The family made their home on a farm south of Loomis, where the couple engaged in farming. When the girls were young, Annita focused on caring for their needs as a mother and homemaker. Annita began a daycare in Loomis with her friend, Linda Meyers in the mid 80's which they operated for several years. She then began a career as a sales clerk for several department stores, and retired from J.C. Penney Co. due to her health issue battling cancer for over 13 years. In 1996, the couple moved to Grand Island, where she was very active with Relay-For-Life.

Annita was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, where she taught Sunday school. Annita and Richard enjoyed traveling together and most of all the time spent with their family.

Annita was preceded in death by her father, Densmore; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Kenneth and Myrtle Frew.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her husband, Richard of Grand Island; two daughters, Karri Clement of Grand Island and Kim Peters and her husband, Ryan of McCook, Nebraska; mother, Ruth Nelson of Holdrege; five grandchildren, Tyler, Jenni and Nolan Clement and Cole and Carley Peters; two brothers, Ed McQueen and his wife, Edith of Westminster, Colorado and Terry Nelson and his wife, Pat of Loomis; brother-in-law, Raymond Frew of Weeping Water, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 1-8 p.m. with the family greeting from 6-7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Annita's honor and will be designated at a later date.
