ATWOOD, Kansas -- S. Ron B. Williams departed this life suddenly on March 18, 2013, at his home in Atwood, Kansas.
He was the oldest of six children born to Bede and E. Marie (Bratt) Williams. He was born May 12, 1937, at Oxford, Nebraska. He attended grade school and graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1956. Ron then attended and graduated from McCook College and later graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science being a member of the Kansas and Nebraska Funeral Directors Association.
He was united in marriage to Carol Ann Biehn on July 2, 1960, in San Francisco, California. He worked as a mortician in the Bay area for nine years and came to Atwood in 1972 with his family including daughters Monica and Melissa. He and his wife have owned and operated the Williams Funeral Home Inc. for 34 years in Atwood, Kansas.
Ron was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Atwood having served on parish and financial councils, a member of Knights of Columbus No. 3023, and Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Assembly, was an Eagle Scout, an EMT for 15 years, and a member of the Atwood Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Ron was a fun loving person and his family was the most important part of his life. He loved Atwood, the Buffalos, and was an avid fan of KU sports.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Lonny as an infant, and brother Monte Hugh.
Those remaining to celebrate his life include his wife, Carol Ann; two daughters, Monica and husband, David Lee of Pottstown, Pennsylvania and Melissa and husband, Joe Nagy of San Francisco California; one granddaughter, Nikki Lincoln of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Greg and wife, Nancy of Kearney, Nebraska, and Todd Williams of Arizona; two sisters, Janet Williams of Lakeside, California and Suzanne and husband, Bill Ward of Scottsdale, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Charmion and husband, Mark Budlong of Gresham, Oregon and Irene Biehn of Aiea, Hawaii; nieces, nephews and a host of good friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Knights of Columbus Endowment Fund in Care of Williams Funeral Home 109 North 2nd Street Atwood, KS 67730.
Visitation will be Sunday March 24, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood. Vigil and Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7: p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood.
Funeral mass will be Monday, March 25, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
