ATWOOD, Kansas -- Barbara Jean Goodrich Palmer, 73, died March 10, 2013, at the Rawlins County Health Center.

She was born Jan. 29, 1940, to Dorthy Ilene Chambers and David Franklin Goodrichin Cortez, Colorado.

Barbara attended schools in Telluride, graduating in 1958. She married Robert Henry Palmer Jr. on May 31, 1958.

She worked at the Atwood Cheese Plant; in the meat department at Williams Brothers Supermarket and as a cook at the Atwood Good Samaritan Center.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and a 50 year-member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviors include her husband of almost 55 years, Robert H. Palmer; three sons, Roy W. Buzz Palmer of Norton, Kansas, Brett Phillip Palmer of Atwood and Robert James Palmer of Franklin, Kentucky; one sister, Arbara Dean Huckaby, of Nucla, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are Friday, March 15, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Atwood with Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Inurnment is private and will be designated at a later date.

There will be no visitatlon, cremation was chosen.

Memorials may be given to the Order of Eastern Star #229-Atwood and First Christian Church in Atwood.

Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of' the arrangements.
