ATWOOD, Kansas -- Ellen Melissa Buk Palmer, 97, of Atwood, died Saturday March 9, 2013, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

She was born Jan. 21, 1916, in Beaver City to Peter and Edith Keely Buk of Herndon. She married RJ (Buzz) Palmer in 1944 and she helped raise the children of her late husband.

She was a member of First Christian Church and 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her step children, LeRoy, Leo, Merle and Robert Henry; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

A celebration of life service is Friday, March 15, 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Interment is at the Cornell Cemetery in Trenton, Nebraska.

Visitation is Thursday, March 14, 10 a.m. to to 9 p. m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Atwood.

Memorials may be given to the Order of Eastern Star #229 Atwood and the First Christian Church-Atwood.
