OBERLIN, Kansas -- John S. "Jack" O'Toole Sr. died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Falls City, Nebraska.
He was born June 10, 1924, in Alma, Nebraska, to James "Emmett" and Elizabeth Chapiesky O'Toole.
He attended rural grade school and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1942.
He lived in Oberlin most of his life and moved to Hiawatha, Kansas, in 2006.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He married Sybil Foley on Nov. 29, 1946, in Oberlin.
He was an electrician for the City of Oberlin.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, all of Oberlin, and St. Ann's Catholic Church in Hiawatha.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Sybil (11/12); infant daughter, Jeanne Ann; three brothers, James, Robert and Francis; and five sisters, Mary Elizabeth, Martha, Mary Ann, Dorothy and Patricia.
Survivors include three sons, Steve (Deanna) O'Toole of Olathe, David (Lisa) O'Toole of Leawood, Kent (Mary) O'Toole of Bowling Green, Kentucky; daughter, Laurie (David) Nachtigal of Falls City, Nebraska; brother, Larry (Barbara) O'Toole of Haven, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Servces are Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. a Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, 1 - 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and Monday, from 8 a.m. to noon, all at Pauls Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to Honor Flight Network (honorflight.org), Golden Age Center and Oberlin Golf Course.
