Dr. Chris Royce 'Royce' Rasmussen

LANSDALE, Pennsylvania -- Dr. Chris Royce "Royce" Rasmussen, 81, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at home in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Carole (Faison) Rasmussen.

Royce was born in Trenton, Nebraska, and grew up in Oberlin, Kansas.

He graduated from Fort Hays State University and served two years in the U.S. Army. He then attended the University of Kansas, where he received his Ph.D. and later completed post-graduate work at the University of Indiana Bloomington. Royce would go on to spend his entire career at Johnson & Johnson/McNeil Pharmaceuticals as a medicinal chemist.

His great loves were his family, his church, music, and Kansas Jayhawks basketball.

In addition to his wife, Royce is survived by his children: Chris Paul (Jayne), Dr. Eric Peter (Nancy), Carl Fredric (Susan), and Roald Mark (Cynthia); eight grandchildren: Kelsey, Megan, Kyle, Timothy, Kevin, Evan, Haley, and Sarah; his sister Jane Daume (Jim) and brother Rex (Nancy); his step-children: Matthew Reid Williams (Susan Vath), Elisabeth Faison Williams, Dr. Laura Lee Williams (Dr. Frank Carner); and four step-grandchildren: Alexandra, Sarah, Daniel, and Matthew. He is also survived by his former wife, Carolyn Ann (Miller) Rasmussen.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at 11 am at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main Street, Lansdale, PA 19446. The family will receive visitors preceding the services beginning at 10 a.m.
