CULBERTSON, Nebraska -- Michael Chris Sitzman, age 52, of Culbertson, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, in McCook, with his family by his side.
Mike was born June 20, 1960, to parents William "Bill" and Sharon (Longsine) Sitzman in McCook. He was one of three siblings. The family made their home in Culbertson where Mike attended school, graduating from Culbertson High School in 1978. Mike attended Sunday School as a youngster at the Trinity United Methodist Church also in Culbertson.
Mike was employed by Parker Hannifin where he worked as a cover operator from 1978 to 2007. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, working cattle, Husker football, boating and camping, playing pickle cards and lottery scratch cards. He played Men's League Softball for many years and also enjoyed golfing.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Sitzman, who lost her battle with cancer in 2011; maternal grandparents, Floyd (Neva) Longsine; and parental grandparents, Henry (Helen) Sitzman.
He is survived by his father, Bill and wife, Pat Sitzman, McCook; sister, Deb (Dave) Korte of Johnson Lake, Nebraska; brother, Scott (Jennifer) Sitzman of Hugo, Colorado and their children, Logan and Rhegan; niece, Whitney (Mike) Schoenemann of McCook; nephew, Lance Korte of McCook; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, with family present to greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Rev. John Lewis and Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.
