BEAVER CITY Nebraska -- Merle Dean Clason, 80, died Thursday (Jan. 24, 2013), at the Cambridge Hospital.

He was born May 16, 1932, southeast of Beaver City, to Francis J. and Hazel L. (Thomas) Clason.

After his schooling, Merle served in the U.S. Army before coming back to farm southeast of Beaver City. On July 16, 1954, he married Phyllis Lambert. He then moved to Laverne, Oklahoma. He returned to Beaver City and married Dorothy Juanita Hyke on Sept. 28, 2005, and they made their home in Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene Clason; step brother, Leland Lambert; step-father, Harley Lambert and step-mother, Ethale Clason.

He is survived by his wife, D. Juanita Clason of Beaver City; son, Jerry Clason of Norton, Kansas; daughters, Linda and husband, Jerry Spotanski of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Marti and husband, Greg Sanchez of Grand Island, Nebraska; step-brothers, Dean and wife, Marjory Lambert of Beaver City, Leroy and wife, Marjorie Lambert of Miller, Nebraska; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Private family graveside services were Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Hendley Cemetery in Hendley, Nebraska.
