McCCOOK, Nebraska -- Susan T. Gonzales Cafferty, age 73, of McCook, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Community Hospital in McCook.

Susan was born Nov. 11, 1939, in McCook to parents Pete J. and Mary (Reyna) Gonzales. She was one of 12 children. The family made their home in McCook where Susan attended school.

On Nov. 9, 1998, Susan married Lonnie Cafferty in McCook.

Susan enjoyed playing cards and bingo, going for walks, listening to Lonnie's band play, watching Dancing with the Stars and shopping at thrift stores. She adored her children and grandchildren; they share many fond memories of playing games together, swimming in the pool and playing in the backyard. Susan loved chocolate, diet coke and her favorite cat, Claudine Marie.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Mary; husband, Lonnie Cafferty; three brothers, Victor Gonzales, Joe Gonzales and Julian Gonzales; two sisters, Andrea Badousek and Virginia Jackson; and four children, Juanita Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Olivia Rae Gonzales and Vance Cafferty.

She is survived by children, Ben (Lisa) Gonzales of McCook, Mary (Jerry) Peterson of McCook, Gina (Stacy) Donnoe of Grand Island, Nebraska, John Gonzales of McCook, and Katrina Stevens of McCook, brothers, Alfred "Jim" Gonzales of Omaha, Nebraska, Pete Gonzales of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul Gonzales of Omaha, Nebraska and Ray Gonzales of McCook, Nebraska; sisters, Cecilia (Plasido) Vieyra of North Platte, Nebraska and Angie Devoe of Gretna, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Breid, Jacob Lee Gonzales, Mike Judd, Rebecca Proud, Rosette Sladek, Ryann Proud, Robert Proud, Kaleb Gillan, Klayton Cafferty, Kailee Allen and Kelsey Allen; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 28, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Rosary will be Monday, Jan. 28, at 7:00 p.m., also at Carpenter Breland.

A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour, officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.

Memorials are suggested in Susan's name.
