McCOOK, Nebraska -- Fred Kammerzell passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska. He was 102 years old.
Fred was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, to George and Anna Margaret (Gettman)) Kammerzell on May 4, 1910. He lived there and in the Grand Junction area of Colorado, before moving to a farm in Scots Bluff County, Nebraska in 1918. His carly life was spent on farm, after which he was a self-employed farmer, aud a farm machinery assemblyman at Lockwood Graders in Gering, Nebraska. In November of 1997, he moved to Cambridge, Nebraska to be closer to his daughter.
He was married to Mary Lohrie on June 29, 1932, and they became parents of two daughters, Audrey and Marilyn. He was a lifetime member of Emamuel Congregational Church, and accepted the Lord as his savior in 1975.
Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Anna Margeret Kammerzell; a daughter, Audrey Helling and son-in-law, Oreval Helling; a brother, Henry and his wife, Marie Kammerzell; five sisters and their husbands, Anna Margaret and Conrad Groskopf, Anna Marie and John Lipps; Kathryn and Henry Scheidt; Amelia (Mollie) and Alcx Kuxhausen; Frieda and Jake Schwartz, and many nieces and nephews,
Survivers are a daughter, Marilyn (Dan) Funk, McCook, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Kandise Helling, Fort Collins, Colorado; Gregory (Julia) Helling, Mitchell, Nebraska; Tami (Mike) Putz, Mesa, Arizona; Michael (Janet) Funk, Choctaw, Oklahoma and Jenise (Junior) Plasencio, Morill, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildrcn.
Jolliffe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The funeral will be on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Congregational Church. Memorials may be made to Emmanual Congegational Church. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
