TRENTON, Nebraska -- Ellen Eolia Janousek, 96, passed away Jan. 16, 2013, at El Dorado Manor, Trenton.
She was born July 17, 1916, to Martin F. and Bridget Curran Bergan southwest of Trenton. She attended District 38 country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Trenton High School with the class of 1935.
On Sept. 29, 1937, she and Vencle F. Janousek were united in marriage. To this union 13 children were born. They farmed on the family farmstead for many years, moving into Trenton in 1956. She was a busy housewife and helped her husband in hauling dray, coal and various other endeavors.
She was active in the church life of St. James Catholic Church, of which she was a life-long member, being baptized, confirmed and married within God's love. She was a member of St. James Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and Rosefield Study Club. She also worked at El Dorado Manor for many years in the kitchen and laundry, doing mending and whatever else needed done.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Vencle, on June 16, 1976; her parents; sisters Edna, Anna, Rose and her husband, Bill, infant sister, Regina; and brother, Dan and his wife, Barbara; grandsons, Terry Brown and Tony Meguire and granddaughter, Karen Dixson Haskell.
Left to mourn are all of her children: Elizabeth Dixson; Cecilia Brown; Regina Thomas; Rita Stupka (Jerry); Larry; Philip (Annalea); Barbara Lykins (Dave); Margaret Brown, (Thomas); Jerald (Jaynee); Richard (Phyllis); Charlotte Janousek; Shawna Meguire (Dave); and Denise Marquette (Brian); 36 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Rosary will be Sunday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church. Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton with Father Lothar Gilde officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. James Catholic Church or El Dorado Manor, both of Trenton.
