Stolen Impala found, no damage
McCOOK, Nebraska -- A 2011 Chevy Impala that was stolen from McCorkle Motors on Christmas Eve was found parked in the Oakview Apartments parking lot on East H Street, Monday afternoon. The auto dealership's owner, Terry McCorkle, said he received a call at noon on Monday from a McCook citizen that said the vehicle had been parked there for some time.
The caller was reportedly prompted to call after seeing the story about the stolen vehicle on the Gazette website.
McCorkle said the vehicle appeared to be undamaged and the keys were found in the gas lid. According to the odometer the thieves had registered 12 miles on the vehicle.
In addition to the Impala being stolen, several area businesses were burglarized, or were victims of attempted burglaries, the evening before and early morning hours of Christmas Eve. The businesses include The Bottle Shop and Rowe's Repair on East B Street, the McDonald's restaurant on U.S. Highway 83 and D&S Hardware, which is located just north of McCorkle Motors on West C Street.
