ARAPAHOE, Nebraska -- Maxine Helen Breinig, 93, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Arapahoe, died Saturday (Dec. 29, 2012), at the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege.
She was born June 8, 1919, at Burns, Wyoming to John O. and Sophia J. (Buhler) Watts.
She attended school at Holbrook Public Schools in Holbrook, Nebraska, and completed her education at rural Gosper County School. On Sept. 7, 1938, she married Raymond P. "Bud" Breinig at St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe. They made their home on a farm northeast of Arapahoe. They moved to Arapahoe in 1980. Following an illness, she moved to Holdrege Memorial Homes in March of 2010.
She was active in the St. Germanus Catholic Church and served as president and secretary of the Altar Society. She served as president of the Arapahoe Senior Center Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond, in August of 1988; brother, Wayne, and brother-in-law, Herb Ziebell.
She is survived by her sons, Robert and wife, Janice Breinig of Holdrege, Richard and wife, Judith Breinig and Larry and wife, Sherry Breinig, all of Arapahoe; daughter, Judy and husband, Ron Jacobsen of Loomis, Nebraska; sister, Della Faye (Peg) Ziebell of Arapahoe; 12 grandchildren: two step-grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Mass will be Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Germanus Catholic Church of Arapahoe with the Rev. Robert Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Rosary will be Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe. A memorial service is Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege.
Viewing and visitation is Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.
