1943 - 2012

OVID, Colorado -- Eugene Henry Krumm born to Henry and Marie Krumm on Jan. 13, 1943, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Dec. 26, 2012.

Gene was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He grew up on a farm three miles north of Ovid, Colorado, and graduated from Ovid High School in 1961. From the time he was a young man he loved farming and began to farm after his high school graduation. It was a short time later he met the love of his life, Dorthy Grasz, during sugar beet harvest in the fall of 1965. They married Sept. 4, 1966, and to this union two children were born, Kimberly Ann and Jeffrey Todd.

Eugene became known as "Tiny" to his friends and neighbors and farmed in Ovid, Chappell, Champion, Venango and Palisade, Nebraska along with Elkhart, Kansas. He retired from farming in 2000 and worked for Central Sand and Gravel until he fully retired in 2007. After retirement, he continued to farm part time in the spring and fall for his good friend, Joe Shank. His greatest enjoyment was buying tractors and machinery for his grandchildren Easton and Alex.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marie Krumm; brother, Kenneth; nephews, Philip and Paul Krumm; mother and father-in-law, Benjamin and Theda Grasz; brother-in-law, Arthur; sister-in-law, Edna Quarter; sister-in-law, Clara Dickensen; brother-in-law, Clarence; infant brother-in-law, Leroy; brother-in-law Harvey; sister-in-law, Rita Powell and brother-in-law, Jess.

He is survived by his wife, Dorthy of Ovid, Colorado; daughter, Kimberly of Cheyenne, Wyoming; son, Jeffrey (wife Becky); grandsons, Easton and Alex of Cambridge, Wisconsin; sister, Judy Powell (husband Ted) of Southlake, Texas; brother, Gary (wife Carol) of Holyoke, Colorado; brother-in-law, Albert of North Platte, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Helen Powell (husband Dee) of Arvada, Colorado; brother-in-law, Wayne Powell of Brighton, Colorado; sister-in-law Vera Bottrell (husband Wayne) of Kings Beach, California; brother-in-law, Victor of North Platte, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Beth Cheleen (husband Darold) of Chappell, Nebraska.

There was a memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke, Colorado, with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating. The service was directed by Baucke Funeral Home.
