Dorthy May (Matson) Scott

HAYES CENTER, Nebraska -- Dorthy May (Matson) Scott, 85, passed away Dec. 19, 2012, in Wichita, Kansas.

Dorthy was born in Culbertson, Nebraska, on July 22, 1927, to Barton and Fern (Ewing) Matson. She was one of nine children.

Dorthy married Donnel Gene Scott on Aug. 16, 1948. To this union three children were born.

Dorthy was a volunteer at the Hayes Center Senior Center for many years.

Dorthy is preceded in death by her parents, Rea and Fern Matson; her husband, Donnel Gene Scott, Sr; and one brother, Donald Matson.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry (Wayne) Mortimer of Wichita, Kansas; sons, Allen (Eloma) Scott of Springfield, Missouri, and Donnel Gene Scott, Jr. of North Platte, Nebraska; five sisters, Beaulah Gill, Dolores Woods, Dixie Anthony, Devona Sattler, and Carolyn Wallas; two brothers, David Matson and Dennis Matson; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Hayes Center, Nebraska, cemetery with Jerry Beckenhauer, officiating.
