McCook Senior High FFA 'Greenhands' earn their jackets
McCOOK, Nebraska --The McCook FFA Chapter at McCook Senior High had it's first annual Greenhand Jacket ceremony Nov. 15.
Freshman members of the McCook FFA Chapter received their National Blue Corduroy FFA Jackets from their officer or senior mentors. Six members of the freshmen class received a free jacket through the Nebraska FFA Foundation Blue Jacket Program. These members include: Madison Crowe, Andrew Heskett, Kylie Messersmith, Kathy Miner, Cole Peters, and Jodie Poire.
After the students received their jackets, they were then awarded their Greenhand Degrees. To earn the degree, students must be enrolled in an agriculture class, learn the five paragraphs of the FFA Creed, and have plans for an SAE program. All freshmen members were awarded their Greenhand degrees that night. Madison Crowe also recited the creed for parents and guests that were in attendance.
There was a reception with green cake and green punch before the ceremony started.
The freshmen would also like to thank Farm Credit Services of America for donating the National FFA handbook to all new members. These handbooks are very resourceful for students to learn their creed and find everything they would need to know about FFA.
