BEAVER CITY, Nebraska --Helen P. Martin, 89, of Beaver City, died Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2012), at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege, Nebraska.
She was born July 29, 1923, on a farm west of Stamford, Nebraska, to Clarence and Mary (Lehman) White.
She grew up in Furnas County, Nebraska. She attended District 10 country school and later attended Stamford High School at Stamford, Nebraska. She married Gerald Martin on Sept. 13, 1939 at Phillipsburg, Kansas. They farmed southwest of Stamford until 1948 when they moved to a farm southwest of Beaver City, where they continued to farm until 1972 when they retired and moved into Beaver City. She moved into the Beaver City Manor and Assisted Living for several years.
She was a member of Faith Community Church at Beaver City and was a prior member of First United Methodist Church in Beaver City. She also belonged to "Happy Go Lucky Club."
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Gerald; two brothers, one sister and two half sisters.
Survivors include sons, Ron Martin and wife, Jennie of Terre Haute, Indiana, Gary Martin and wife, Ellen of Kearney, Nebraska and Thomas Martin and wife, Nancy of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Dorothy Hinze of Lincoln; half sister, Minnie Mintzmeyer of Alma, Nebraska, eight grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Faith Community Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Daniel David officiating. Burial to follow at Mount Home Cemetery at Beaver City.
Viewing and visitation will is today until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Saturday at the church.
