BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Lloyd Upson died at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas on Nov. 19, 2012.

He was born in Holdrege, Nebraska on Sept. 23, 1953, to Gordon R. and Betty M. (Weaver) Upson. Lloyd grew up in Beaver City graduating from Beaver City High School in 1972. He then went to Central Technical College in Hastings, Nebraska.

On Dec. 16, 1978, Lloyd was united in marriage to Mary Huffman at St. John's Lutheran Church in Ord, Nebraska. Lloyd was employed as the city police officer in Beaver City and later was employed by the Furnas County Sheriffs Office for 18 years. He has been employed for 13 years as a corrections officer at the Norton County Correction Facility in Norton, Kansas. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe.

Lloyd enjoyed riding his motorcycle and 4-wheeler. He had a large collection of toy tractors. He enjoyed time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Marion "Slim" Huffman; and parents-in-law: Vesta and Edmund Huffman.

Lloyd is survived by his wife: Mary of Beaver City, Nebraska; two daughters, Jennifer and husband, James Hays of Severance, Colorado and Shawna Upson and Clint Younghans of Fremont, Nebraska; son, Heath and wife, Krista of Council Bluffs, Iowa; five grandchildren, Ellie, Katelyn, Brody, Addison and Kolbe and brother, Ronald and wife, Judy of Beaver City, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska, with Pastors James Mosier and Dale Hedstrom officiating. Inurnment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City, Nebraska.

There will be no public viewing.
