COLUMBUS, Nebraska --Marlyn Mackey, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Monday (Nov. 12, 2012), at her home in Columbus.

She was born June 20, 1936, in Sutton, Nebraska, to Arthur and Hermina (Griess) Zimbelman.

She and Fred Mackey were married in McCook, Nebraska, on Oct. 14, 1989.

She worked as a cook at McCook Junior High School and then managed the Student Union at the junior high.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Zimbelman and sisters, Virginia Poole, Nadine Armagost, Dorothy Bullock, and Norma Hart.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Mackey of Columbus; daughters, Deborah (Darrel) Petersen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Jamie Slack of Hildreth, Nebraska; son, Bruce (Kris) Andresen of Columbus; step-sons, Fritz Mackey and Charlie Mackey, both of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Allen (Kathy) Zimbelman of Napa, Idaho and Dennis (Judy) Zimbelman of Cozad, Nebraska; five grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Funeral service is Thursday, Nov. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ritter officiating. Private family interment will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4- 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
