McCOOK, Nebraska -- Kenneth L. Baumfalk, age 80, died at the Hillcrest Nursing Home on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012.
He was born in Stratton, Nebraska, to Alvin and Hannah (Pollman) Baumfalk on March 20, 1932. Kenneth attended school in Stratton. He was married to Della Elaine Roose and she preceded him in death in 1965.
Kenneth raised and trained horses. He worked at the McCook Packing plant. He owned a disc rolling (sharpening) business. Kenneth enjoyed being around horses designing and building tack and horse equipment. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved to have his grandchildren visit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two granddaughters, Madison Elaine Lindsley and Ke Ann Baumfalk.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jackie (Baumfalk) Lindsley of Columbus; Jeanie (Baumfalk) Mintzmyer of La Penita, Nayarit, Mexico; two sons, Keith Baumfalk and wife, Chris of Grand Island, Nebraska; Dennis Baumfalk of Evanston, Wyoming; six grandchildren; six great-granchildren; sister, Joan and husband, Gary Mills of McCook; brother, Eugene Baumfalk and wife, Cleta of McCook; two step-brothers: Gerald and wife, Bard Hein and Robert and wife, Jan Hein, all of McCook; half-sister, Janice Kruse of Ogallala, Nebraska and a special great-great-nephew, Brayden Williams.
Memorial services were at the McCook Christian Church in McCook, on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. A private family inurnment took place at the Culbertson Cemetery, Culbertson, Nebraska.
Memorial may be left in Kenneth's name to Feed My Starving Children at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, Nebraska.
Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
