KEARNEY, Nebraska -- Viola I. Sattler, 90, formerly of Sumner, died Tuesday (Oct. 23, 2012), at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born Oct. 7, 1922, on the family farm northwest Sumner to George and Mary (Vest) Kutsch. She attended the Lower Park Valley School and later graduated from Sumner High School in 1940. She attended the American School of Commerce in Omaha. She worked for Hodges Implement Co., and later for the Sedgwick County USDA office in Julesburg, Colorado. She married Eric Sattler Oct. 18, 1943, in Julesburg, Colorado. They moved to Sumner in 1946, where they farmed northwest of Sumner. She also worked at Baldwin Filter's in Kearney and Plectron Corporation in Overton. She moved into Sumner in 1992, to Kearney in 1997, and to Mount Carmel in 2009. She was a charter member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Roger and Dennis, and sister, Elizabeth Brandt.

She is survived by her son, Milton Sattler of Lexington, Nebraska; daughters, Jenell and Steve Harmoney of Amherst, Nebraska, and Jani and Jerry Barger of Culbertson, Nebraska; sister, Inez Dittmar of Kearney; 13 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services are Friday, Oct.26, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner with the Rev. Vic Rasmussen officiating. Burial is at the Sumner Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 7 p.m. at the Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
