Joyce (Kisker) Axelson

WHEAT RIDGE, Colorado -- Joyce Kisker Axelson entered her heavenly home on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at her home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, at the age of 71.

She was born Nov. 22, 1940, at McCook, Nebraska, the daughter of William and Adela (Leibbrandt) Kisker. Joyce was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church at Ash Creek in McCook. She attended kindergarden at Red Willow Public Schools and grades one through eight at St. John's Lutheran Parochial School at Ash Creek. Joyce attended high school at Red Willow Public Schools and graduated in 1958.

The following year, she attended Kearney State College and graduated in 1962 with a teaching degree in elementary education. Joyce moved to Colorado and taught in Denver Public Schools for 37 years and retired in 1998. She was a dedicated teacher and loved her work very much.

On June 26, 1968, she married William (Bill) Axelson at the Chapel of the West at Las Vegas, Nevada.

Joyce and Bill loved to travel. Joyce enjoyed knitting, reading, and painted many beautiful paintings.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William in 1960 and Adela in 2008.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, William (Bill) Axelson of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; son, Bill of Highland Ranch, Colorado and a daughter, Dawn Axelson of Denver, Colorado; three step-grandsons, one brother, Dennis (Janice) Kisker of McCook and nieces, nephews and many friends.

Memorial serives will be Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at the Wheat Ridge Lutheran Church.
