Roxie Ann Pomeroy
OBERLIN, Kansas -- Roxie Ann Pomeroy was born July 21, 1942, in McCook, Nebraska, the daughter of Louis and Donna D. (Boggs) Pachner. She passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the Decatur County Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin, Kansas, at the age of 70.
Roxie and her two siblings were reared in Oberlin, Kansas. She attended Oberlin Elementary School and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1960.
On Dec. 23, 1961, Roxie was united in marriage to Dell Pomeroy in Oberlin, where they made their home. Two sons were born to their union.
Roxie retired from the Decatur County Emergency Communications as a dispatcher in March of 2007. She also had worked as a respiratory technician up until 1982. Roxie was a member of the United Church of Oberlin, United Church of Oberlin Council, and Decatur County Health Board. Her interests and pastimes included bowling, reading, cooking, gardening, crocheting, and needlepoint.
Survivors include her two sons, Michael Pomeroy and wife Holly, of Enterprise, and Patrick Pomeroy and special friend, Jeana; a sister, Rose Riffle, of Oberlin; five step grandchildren: Stephanie Vineyard, Matthew Wilson, Jacob Engle, Shannon Keltner and Rachel Powell; seven step great-grandchildren: Abbigale, Elizabeth and Alexander Vineyard, Gabriel and Elliott Engle, Thomas Keltner, and Jonathon Rojas; five nephews and nieces, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dell Pomeroy in 2009; brother, Roger Pachner; step great-grandson, Micheal Vineyard; and special friend, Karen Flynn.
