BARTLEY, Nebraska -- Allen Palmateer died Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012), at his home after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on the family farm near Madison, Nebraska, on Nov. 23, 1932, to Irvin and Alma (Grouteleushen) Palmateer. He attended school in Madison.
Allen served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a permanent member of the American Legion Post 245 of Bartley, serving more 40 years. He was member of the Eagles of North Platte, Nebraska and Kemper United Methodist Church of Bartley
He married to Carol Colleen Hoshor on March 12, 1953, to this union two children were born.
Carol preceded him in death on Nov.1, 1989. He married Lenora (Johnson) Chancellor June 9, 1990.
He lived in Cozad, Gothenburg and retired to his home in Bartley. Allen drove a truck most of his life until retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Carol; granddaughter, Whitney Buchholz-Lange; step-daughter, Jenelda Chancellor; sister, Helene Koch and brother, Victor Palmateer
Survivors include his wife, Lenora, of Bartley; daughter, Charlene and husband, Ralph Ogier of Gothenburg, Nebraska; son, Bryan Palmateer of North Platte; step-daughter, LaRena and husband, Rick Stuckwith of South Bend, Indiana: three step-sons, Merlin Chancellor of Denver, Colorado, Joel and wife, Brenda Chancellor of Curtis, Nebraska, Elgin and wife, Heather of McCook, Nebraska; two brothers, Oran and wife, Paula of Vail, Colorado and Kenneth and wife, Kathy of Payton, Colorado; two grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren, two great-grand children and eight step-great-grand children.
Memorial services are Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, 2 p.m. at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with the Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Inurnment will be in the Bartley Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation was Saturday and Sunday.
