Loral Mae (Clark) Kauffman

LAKEWOOD, Colorado -- Loral Mae (Clark) Kauffman, 84, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on Sept, 30, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth O. Kauffman; her sons, Mark Kauffman and Daniel (Sharon) Kauffman; and her daughter, Peggy (Thomas) Kauffman Moss. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Maggie, Andrea, Andrew, Eric, Oliver, Spencer and Harrison and three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Sawyer and Bentley.

She was the fourth of six children born to David and Margaret Clark. She was predeceased by her brothers, Delbert and Lawrence Clark and sister, Betty Penny. Surviving brothers include Ross Clark and Edward Clark.

Loral Mae was born in Onaga, Kansas, on Feb. 9, 1928. She was educated in a one-room school house and went on to prepare as a registered nurse, a career she practiced and loved for all of her life.

An active life filled her days. She water- and cross country skied, bowled, danced, played bridge and golfed, often in the company of her husband, Kenny. Golf was so much a part of her life, two of her homes sat on golf courses. She was always competitive and enjoyed it all. In her retirement years, Loral wrote an autobiographical book about her family entitled, "Reflections of Loral."

She was encouraging to her children and grandchildren, supporting them in their pursuits. As a wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 South Datura Street, Littleton, Colorado 80120 on Friday, Oct. 5, 1012 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loral's name to the Alzheimer's Association at 455 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203 or at www.alz.org.
