BEAVER CITY, Nebraska -- Stephen Lee Tomlinson, 73, of Beaver City, died Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2012), at Good Samaritan Hospital at Kearney, Nebraska.
He was born March 27, 1939 at Indianapolis, Indiana, to Robert and Eleanor (Kennedy) Tomlinson.
He grew up in Danville, Indiana, graduating from Danville High School with the class of 1957. He attended the University of Indiana for one year. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1960, where he served until 1968. He married Linda Weaver on June 17, 1962, at Beaver City, Nebraska.
Following his discharge, they lived in Ohio. He was a mechanic and truck salesman. In 1976, they moved to Beaver City where they lived until 1988, when they moved to Texas. Following retirement in 2004, they returned to to Beaver City. During his retirement years he enjoyed gathering and writing news for the Beaver City newspaper.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Lion's Club, both at Beaver City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bobbie Sue Guthman and two grandchildren, Shane Miller and Tasha Pike.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of Beaver City; sons, Robert Tomlinson and wife, Lisa of Calhan, Colorado,Stephen Tomlinson and wife, Deborah of Centennial, Colorado, David Tomlinson and wife, Kara of Omaha, Nebraska, and Donald Tomlinson and wife, Stephanie of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughters, Kelly Pike of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Nancy Tomlinson of Kearney, Nebraska, Kathy and husband, Jason Middleswart of Gibbon, Nebraska; sister, Margo Tomlinson of Olyphant, Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren, and one great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Beaver City, with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City.
Viewing and visitation is Thursday, Sept. 27 and Friday, Sept. 28, from 1 until 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services on Saturday at the Church.
