DRESDEN, Kansas -- Raymond Frank Weis, 97, died Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2012), at the Sheridan County Long Term Care Unit in Hoxie.
He was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Dresden, Kansas, to Michael Peter Weis and Theresa Anna Ritter. He was raised on a farm south of Dresden.,
He was a Army veteran. He as a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville, Kansas. He married Germaine Kruse on Oct. 17, 1944, in Leoville. He was a farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by parents; son, Steve Weis; brothers, Joseph, Ben, Al and Urban; sisters, Sister M. Vincentia and Sister M. Laurann.
Survivors include his wife, Germaine Weis of rural Dresden; sons, Norbert Weis of Dresden, Robert Weis and wife, Jane, of Hoxie and Francis Weis and wife, Esther of Akron, Colorado; daughters, Joan Long and husband, Carl, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Jane Fleming and husband, Jim, of Lindsborg, Kansas, Jeanette Cech and husband Joe, of Goodland, Kansas, Dolores Mauck and husband, Roger, of Hoxie and Rose Weis of Austin, Texas; brothers, Leo Weis and wife, Hermine, of Hoxie, Ralph Weis of Dresden; sisters, Sister M. Bernadine of Clyde Missouri; 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Sevices are Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville, Kanas, with Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Interment is at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.
Visitation is Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the funeral home in Selden and from 6-8 p.m. at the church in Leoville, with a vigil service on Friday at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
