ELWOOD, Nebraska -- Kenneth C. Munson, 81, died Wednesday (Sept.12, 2012), at his home in Elwood.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1930, south of Imperial, Nebraska, in Dundy County to Bert L. and Alice M. (Benson) Munson.
He attended country school until the eighth grade and then attended Chase County High School in Imperial. He served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he farmed in Chase County, Nebraska, for a number of years. In March 1955, he married Barbara Coleman, to this union one daughter was born.
He would drive a truck for Little Audrey Company for 10 years, hauling from coast-to-coast. He would also work as a ditch rider for Tri County for 10 years.
On Aug. 29, 1975, he married Maria "Mary" M. Maes at McCook, Nebraska. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church of Holdrege, Nebraska, Elwood American Legion Post Np. 290 and VFW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brothers, Jack and Don Munson, and step-granddaughter, Cindy Lovitt.
He is survived by daughter, Rhoni Ahomas of Midvale, Utah; step-sons, Jim and wife, Sharri Baldonado of Elwood and Fred and wife, JoBelle Baldonado of St. Charles, Illinois; step-daughters, Margie and husband, Bud Lovitt of Decatur, Arkansas, Nel and husband, Johnny Walker of Trenton, Nebraska, Darlene and husband, Lynn Haarberg of Wauneta, Nebraska, Rae and husband, David Milanovich of Litchfield, Arizona; sister, Nila Kern of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Sandy Munson of Milford, Nebraska; one granddaughter, 14 step-grandchildren and 14 step-great -grandchildren.
Funeral services are Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Elwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Walker officiating. Burial will follow at the Elwood Cemetery with military rites presented by Elwood American Legion Post No. 290.
Viewing and visitation is today until 8 p.m. at Elwood Funeral Home.
