ATWOOD, Kansas -- Sandra Faye Owens, age 77, died at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Atwood, Kansas, on Friday, Aug. 24, 2012.

She was born in Cherokee, Iowa, on July 26, 1935, to Dale and Mae (Schmidt) Timmins. At an early age, Sandra's family moved as her dad was in construction. They lived in McCook where he worked on the dam project.

On Sept. 30, 1949, she was married to Eugene Owens. To this union, seven children were born: Bill, Ron, Rick, Connie, Tommy, Terri and Sherri. The couple lived in Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Kansas, North Dakota and Nebraska. Sandra spent most of the last 40 years of her life living in Colorado.

She loved her family and at one time or another had her grandchildren live with her. Sandra loved to play bingo, crocheted, embroidery and cook meals for her family and friends, especially home-made biscuits and gravy.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Tommy; a daughter: Connie Lemay; a grandson: Emmett Merklin; one sister: Shirley. She is survived by her two daughters: Terri Avery of Trenton; Sherri Owens of Culbertson; three sons: Bill Owens of Trenton; Ron and wife, Frankie Owens of Wiley, Colorado; Rick and wife Carol Owens of Wiley, Colorado; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchilden; brothers: Bill Timmins of Phoenix, Arizona; Jim Timmins of Omaha, Nebraska.

A private inurnment service will be conducted in the future.

Herrmann Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of arrangements.
