GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska -- Rosella M. Noden, 85, of Grand Island, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at St.
Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at Peace
Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Burial will be at Grand Island City
Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at Apfel
Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to Peace
Lutheran Church.



Rosella was born on April 10, 1927, in Elba, the daughter of Anton and
Esther (Poss) Spilinek. She grew up near Elba on the family farm
homesteaded by her grandparents. She graduated as Salutatorian of
Elba High School in 1945. After high school she attended Omaha School
of Commerce Business College and received a degree in Secreterial
Business Accounting.

She was united in marriage to Robert A. Noden on Aug. 26, 1950, in
St. Paul. After that the couple lived in Omaha where Rosella was
employed at an insurance office. They moved to McCook where she
worked at the hospital there. The couple moved to Grand Island in
1970 where she worked at the Lutheran Hospital for two years before
working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency for 23 years.

She was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church and past fellowship
chairperson, member of the ladies Shalom Group, and Altar Guild.
Rosella was PTA President with a honorary life membership in the PTA,
past co-president of the Central Nebraska Square Dance Association,
Chairperson of the Government United Way effort, and a member of the
Liederkranz and the Platt Deutsch.


Rosella enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, square dancing, exercise group with friends, a good joke, and especially her family. Those who knew Rosella witnessed a vibrant and energetic spirit, always in motion, always there for family and friends and tireless in her pursuit of the fullness of life. She was an inspiration in her devotion to her husband Bob and for being the hub of the family.


She is survived by three sons; Robert Noden Jr and special friend,
Deborah Conevera of Grand Island, Rick and Sue Noden of Trinidad, Colorado,
Ron and Jennifer Noden of Stillwater, Minnesota, daughter, Bev and husband, Lynn
Hansen of Norfolk, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother,
Dale and wife, Sally Spilinek of Hastings, step-sister, Fern and husband,
Gaylord Nielsen of Grand Island.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, two brothers, Ralph
and Gerald and an infant sister.
