HENDLEY, Nebraska -- Catherine "Cathy" John, 58, died Friday (July 27, 2012), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at Cambridge, Nebraska.

She was born Jan. 2, 1954, at LaJunta, Colorado to Edward and Virginia (Jones) Rains.

She grew up in LaJunta, Colorado and graduated from Sharon Springs High School in 1972. She attended Fort Hays State University at Hays, Kansas for a year following high school graduation.

She married Terry John on May 1, 1976 at Levant, Kansas. They farmed north of Colby, Kansas, as well as at Oakley, Kansas. They moved to Hendley, Nebraska in 1990. She worked for Hoffman's Inc. and Ag Valley for two years. She became City Clerk of Beaver City in 2000 and Wilsonville City Clerk in 2006. She was a member of Beaver City Lion's Club, Haag Society, Furnas County Lions Carnival Charity and League of Municipalities.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Survivors include husband, Terry of Hendley; sons, Dustyn of Hastings, Nebraska and Claytyn of Beaver City, Nebraska and sister, Barbara Fischer of Wilson, Kansas.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Beaver City Community Building in Beaver City, Nebraska with the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating.

No viewing or visitation as cremation was chosen.
