Anastasia 'Stacia' K. Shannon

Anastasia "Stacia" K. Shannon passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 99 years old.

She was born April 13, 1913, at Omaha to Louis B. and Mary (Kremlacek) Horky. She met and later married John J. "Jack" Shannon on May 25, 1938 in Omaha. To this union three children were born.

They moved to Aurora, Colorado, and lived there for 62 years before returning to the McCook community in 2000. Stacia worked for the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center in Denver for 25 years.

She and her husband enjoyed bowling, playing cards and traveling across the United States.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Louis and Mary Horky; husband, Jack Shannon on April 30, 2012 after 75 years of marriage; son-in-law, Emery Crist; two sisters, Viola Chase and Rose Norris; and one brother, Art Horky.

Survivors include her children, John Shannon, Jr. and wife, Hannah, of Sheridan, WY and Timothy Shannon and wife, Barbara, of McCook; daughter, Kathleen Crist of Sheridan; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Rosary will be Tuesday, July 24, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of McCook with Father Andrew Heaslip as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in McCook.
