CLEARFIELD, Utah -- Dorean passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 10, 2012.

She was born in Hayes Center, Nebraska, Dec. 5, 1926, to William Fredrich and Emily Elizabeth (Schulz) Wach.

A self proclaimed tomboy, she brought that spirit with her through her life and you see it in her children. Most people knew her as a teacher. She was a substitute teacher for many years much to the dismay of her children. When she wasn't teaching in the classroom, she was teaching life lessons to those around her. She was extremely proud of being able to teach English as a second language to refugees. She also helped many of her students with their new lives in America.

Many would become friends outside the classroom. As well as being a teacher, she retired from the IRS after 10 years of service. She was an adored and devoted wife, mother and friend.

Throughout her life, she was very involved with her church and church activities, which included Boy and Girls Scouts, youth group, Martha's Circle, Bible school and Sunday school teacher. She and her husband also participated in mission work in Alaska. She received numerous awards for her many hours of volunteer work.

Of her hobbies, she enjoyed camping, especially at Camp Utaba, taking her grandchildren camping to Yellowstone and in her later years putting together scrapbooks and making quilts for the grand and great-grandchildren. She was involved in Red Hats. She collected family stories and jokes and delighted in sharing them at events and doctors visits.

Many thanks to those who assisted in her journey of life. A special thanks for the care givers, the nannies and the billies for their genuine love and care, and to the staff from Legacy Hospice.

Dorean is survived by her husband of 63 years, Arwid (Bud) Harlan Carey, sons, M. Wayne, Alexandria, Virginia; Dwight E. (Ilene), Twin Falls, Idaho; Robert D, Holladay, Utah; daughter, Dorinda M. Sunset, Utah; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and brother, Ralph Wach, Oregon.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Clearfield Community Church, 200 South 500 East, Clearfield, Utah, 84015 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the church attention: Martha's Circle.
