McCOOK, Nebraska -- Steven Charles Jacobsen, age 51, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the McCook Community Hospital in McCook.

Steve was born June 7, 1961, in Hastings, Nebraska to parents Lawrence and Veronica (Placke) Jacobsen. The family made their home in McCook where Steve attended school at St. Pat's and McCook High School, graduating in 1979. Steve then went on to attend Hastings Vo-Tech College. Steve was an employee of Parker Hannifin Hose for over 25 years. He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and playing cards with his friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Veronica Jacobsen; paternal grandparents, Thorvald and Alice Jacobsen; and maternal grandparents, William and Kathryn Placke.

Steve is survived by his two sisters, Peggy (Byron) Daniels of Trenton, Nebraska and Nancy (Greg) Broadfoot of McCook, Nebraska; nephews, Benton Daniels (Lacey), Cody Daniels (Dennise), Jacob Forbes (Miranda), Andrew Broadfoot and Alex Broadfoot; nieces, Megan Forbes (Scott), Michaela Daniels (Blaine) and Libby Broadfoot; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, from 1 to 7 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Rosary beginning at 7 p.m..

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with Father Gary Brethour, officiating.

Burial at a later date will take place in the St. Libory Catholic Cemetery in St. Libory, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions may be designated to the McCook Fire and Rescue Department.
